I always try to have a personal project to work on, so that I'm continually improving my craft. Here are a couple test shots from a recent shoot for my 2012 personal project. I'll also start sharing some of my 2011 project soon!

Grasping at straws.
There are always busier times and slow times in this business, and the slow times sometimes get me down. Down on my work. Down on myself. Down on my business. At times I feel I'm grasping at straws, so to speak.

Looking forward to a lazy Sunday.
I'm taking another licensing exam for the Utah bar tomorrow morning. After that, we're hitting up our favorite restaurant and then spending much of the rest of the weekend lounging with my two favorite guys. Perfect way to celebrate *hopefully* the end of my days of studying. This is what a lazy autumn Sunday looks like for us.

Holiday Cards
I just ordered my Christmas cards from mango ink, where I am an affiliated photographer. If you haven't already ordered your holiday cards, definitely check out their products. They are beautiful, modern, and so nice. The "classic" versions are mounted on heavy cardstock and come with matching colorful envelopes. Tell 'em I sent you!
This year our cards are a combo birth announcement/Christmas card. Joy!

Ada: Featured!
Head on over to Showers & Flowers and check out cute Trina's feature on my photographs from this shoot. The blog showcases ideas for event planning and decor, and naturally, Trina loved the details in Ada's nursery (as do I!).
Oh, and if you're looking for a way to spruce up your blog (or your hair), check out Ada's mom's design blog.

Bobby | Utah Portrait Photographer
This guy is nineteen today. I can hardly stand it! Happy birthday, baby brother. Here, he's showing off his freshly smashed (by train) nickel.

Cabin Fever
I have the good kind of cabin fever--the kind that makes me want to go back to this beautiful cabin rather than go back to school next week. Eek! We had a fantastic weekend getaway with our friends full of intense card games, great food, and even better relaxation. I totally recommend couples' trips with perfect children.

Heber, Utah

There's more where that came from. Check it out here.
I'll have more from Heber soon, since I'm shooting a very important family session up there today.

Bountiful, Utah Temple | fisheye view
Delayed gratification: one of my favorite parts of shooting film. Picking up processed film from the lab and looking through images is a lot like Christmas morning. While I'm not a huge fan nor proponent of skewing images (except in certain specific situations), I think I like these. I prefer natural-looking images to any distortions or Photoshop actions. (If I have applied actions in the past to your images, I'm sorry!)
Anyway, I shot these on Jen & Dean's wedding day with my toy fisheye. Personally, I don't think fisheye is very appropriate for weddings, but I really like it for other situations. See what you think!
P.S. I'm photographing a large family reunion this weekend, and I'm taking both my DSLR and film SLR!

Newport Beach, California
On our California trip last month, we got to spend a full day at Newport beach! Bodies buried in the sand, gelato consumed, people watched, and everything documented by me, naturally.
