Adri | Utah Maternity Photography

Adri is one of the most creative and talented people I know. You may have noticed her blog button on my sidebar. If not, you should go check it out. When she sees something she likes, she figures out a way to replicate it, and then puts up a tutorial for us less-innovative folk.

I got to shoot these images for her screen-pressed and handmade maternity shirt line, which I will hopefully get to take advantage of one day.

Utah Genius 2009: the details (Salt Lake City Event Photographer)

The details at this event were beautiful, as most things at the Grand America are. Everything, as they say, is in the details.

Do you have a wedding or special event coming up? Call me.

Utah Genius 2009: The Setup (Utah Event Photographer)

Is it strange to any of you photographers out there to see photos taken of you while you're in the act? To me, it's a bit like hearing my voice on tape. You know, that "yikes, that's what I really sound {look} like?" feeling.

This first shot was taken by katie of the lighting photo booth at the Utah Genius event, before we set up the tall bar stool for the honorees. Good thing I attended nicole hill's studio lighting workshop a few weeks back and learned how to set everything up!

This second photo is from lesley, taken at said workshop (well, one of them). I apparently make silly, goofy-happy faces when I'm learning about the stuff I love!

Utah Genius 2009: The Honorees

Last week, Bateman IP Law Group in SLC asked me to document their annual event the "Utah Genius" awards, honoring over 50 of Utah's inventors. Lucky me, it was held at the beautiful Grand America hotel. I was able to snag friend Katie Torriente to second shoot, and we had a fabulous time with some of Utah's best. We set up a photo booth for the award winners and also followed everyone around during their mixer. Here are just a few of my favorite portraits and candids of the honorees (lots more of details to come!).

Can't get enough? See all of the images (Katie's, too) here.

The end of an era: HRS

Back in november, hudson river school played its final concert at the midvale main street theatre. Mo-kun and I were in attendance, along with a surprisingly modest crowd. I've been following this band since I was in jr. high, mostly because my cousin spencer (whom i've always basically idolized) is the lead guitarist. While they didn't quite make it, hrs came heart-breaking-ly close to the big times: Clive Davis flew them out to ny for a private audition, and they toured with a few big-name bands. So sad that it is over for them. But so glad I was able to be there to capture a few moments...mostly of spence ... and a few of the rest of the band.
